Low Vision Lead Vacancy

We are looking for a self-motivated team player to join us in the role of Low Vision Lead. The aim of this role is to provide practical support to adults living with low vision and blindness.

Main duties
Manage the Low Vision and Blindness Centre in Cambridge, including line management of the Magnification Lead and Low Vision Worker; support visitors to the Centre; demonstrate equipment; set stock and work with suppliers; and co-ordinate with the Centre in Wisbech.

Work closely with Community and Rural Support Lead to deliver Community Support service. Undertake casework to support adults with low vision and blindness by conducting home visits to support clients in the community.

Run two monthly peer support groups; co-ordinate group volunteers; advise clients on variety of needs; refer for further support as appropriate; and liaise with speakers.

Work with the Volunteer Co-ordinators to deliver training to volunteers on a monthly basis.

Promote the work of Cam Sight by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the local authority, health and care services.

Provide information and advice regarding visual impairment and relevant signposting for local authority, health and care services.
