19 November

10am - 2pm

The Meadows Community Centre, Cambridge

We all know how important small organisations are in making the places we live, work and study special. Whether they are community groups, sports clubs or charities these organisations provide a whole raft of services, activities and events for everyone.

BUT ALL IS NOT WELL

We know that it is harder for groups to find the money, volunteers and trustees that they need to keep going. We know that the numbers of people looking for help is going up. We know that the opportunities to get involved is not equal across the county.

This conference will be an opportunity to hear from speakers from a number of different places talk about their take on this. We have lined up the new CEO at Cambridgeshire Community Foundation, Michael O'Toole, as our keynote. He will give his take on the importance of small organisations and what CCF are looking at doing to help you. You will also have the opportunity to question him about how CCF can make things easier for you.

We have representatives from both the City Council and South Cambs District Council who will give their thoughts on what their authorities can do, and how they want to support the work of small organisations in their areas. Finally you will hear from Mark Freeman, our very own CEO, who has written a number of pieces on this subject, and who has worked with national organisations to help them understand how they can better serve the needs of small groups. Read his blogs on this subject here  and here.

We are looking for new trustees

We are looking for new trustees both from our membership and from the wider community. If you are interested then please have a look at the recruitment page here. Or drop Mark a line mark@cambridgecvs.org.uk or call 01223 464696.

The commitment is a few day time meetings a year (generally every other month) held at the CCVS offices in Cambridge. We can pay full expences and are keen to build the skills and diversity of the board.
